Chia seeds! Your parent's probably remember the chia pets commercials and how ultra chic it was to have  animal shaped pottery to house their edible kitchen plant. Chia seeds are packed with calcium, iron, potassium, protein, and antioxidants. They also provide great energy, boost strength and endurance, support intestinal regularity and also improves blood sugar levels. Chia seeds can also be made into a drink that is like a gatorade and red bull all in one. Sometimes I need a mid day pick me up and since coffee breath and stained teeth is not something that peaks my interest I was on the hunt for something more natural. I came across the chia fresca recipe on Pinterest. I have been drinking this for the past week and although it doesn't give you a energy jolt like many energy drinks, it does give you a sustained energy to get through your day and there is no crash! Here is a simple chia fresco recipe that you can make at home. Just add everything in a glass or jar and mix it up!
1 tbsp cup Chia seeds
1 Lemon/Lime juiced
2 tsp Raw Honey
16 oz Water ( I used carbonated water)
